Smiffys is delighted to announce that they have been successful in gaining a judgment of the Royal Courts of Justice, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, against I Love Fancy Dress Ltd for copyright infringement.
The Court agreed that I Love Fancy Dress Ltd had infringed Smiffys’ copyright by using several of its images on their website, Amazon and eBay stores to advertise for sale their own branded product and the branded product of other fancy-dress manufacturers.
The Court ordered that I Love Fancy Dress Ltd pay damages and costs to Smiffys in respect of such copyright infringement and further issued an injunction against I Love Fancy Dress Ltd to stop them from using such copyright images in the future.
Smiffys have a dedicated Intellectual Property and Brand Protection team who are committed to protecting both Smiffys’ own business and the business of its customers. Smiffys will continue to rigorously pursue infringers of their intellectual property and will take all necessary steps, including the issuing of court proceedings in the IPEC, to enforce its brand and copyright.
